Windows 7 has a feature that expands a window to full screen when you drag that window near the edge of the screen. I’ve always heard it referred to as Auto Snap but in looking for this solution I found that Microsoft refers to is as Aero Snap (go figure). As someone who usually has at least half a dozen application wiondows open at a time I spend a lot of time moving and resizing windows so I can see what I need to. There is nothing more frustrating when doing this that to have the window fill up the whole screen (especially when recording screen videos which I’ve been doing this morning.) So a little bit of sleuthing (mainly to find out what MS calls it !!) shows that to turn off Aero Snap you:
- Open Control Panel
- Click on the “Ease of Access Center” link

- then click on the last item in the list “Make it easier to focus on tasks”
- then click the “prevent Windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen” in the Make it easier to manage windows section.
You should be set, other than to wonder why (based on the title of the last section), by default Microsoft make it more difficult to manage your windows.
